The crater of Apoyo was formed about 23,000 years ago, and the reserve is approximately 5,213 acres with the centerpiece being the 6 km in diameter lake that boasts crystal-clear waters that with an average temperatures of 27 to 28 degrees C. 273 species of birds have been spotted in the Laguna as well as lots of additional wildlife. This area is perfect for the nature enthusiast who still wants to be close to the conveniences of a larger town or city.
